Tips for Melting Crayons & Protecting your Molds

  • SAFETY FIRST Crayon wax can cause severe burns. Take proper precautions and keep children and pets at a safe distance.
  • PROTECT YOUR OVEN Place mold on a metal baking sheet lined with tin-foil.
  • PROTECT YOUR MOLDS Use a LIGHT spray of Canola oil or olive oil spray before filling with wax. Melt crayons at a LOW TEMPERATURE (200 F degrees). We suggest using Craytastic! brand crayons.
  • DO NOT OVERCOOK Carefully remove tray from the oven as soon as crayons have fully melted. Melted wax can spill easily. Place baking tray on a protected surface as it will be hot.
  • ALLOW TO FULLY COOL Cooling time can vary. Crayons will look shiny when wet and will start to dull as they cool. Crayons will begin to crack if removed too early.
  • CAREFULLY REMOVE CRAYONS Slowly bend mold away from all sides of the crayon, being extra careful around tight spots. Then slowly push out of mold.
